Not too long ago Sony announced more information on their expandable storage for PlayStation 5. The capacity of the cards were starting at 500GB. Xbox Series X/S had one from launch but was 1TB only. That was the 1TB Seagate Expansion Card which sold for £220/$220. But potentially things could change for Xbox Series X/S owners.
What news do you have?
A report originally by Xbox Squad France and then reported by Windows Central seems to suggest we could see a cheaper Seagate Expansion card. The reason it is cheaper is because of the storage capacity.
What could we expect to see?
If the reports are indeed correct then Seagate will be launching a 500GB expansion card. The reported price is around $150/€149 and 169. A UK price could be around £100-120. Windows Central also said they can’t verify the existence of the card and felt it was a sensible move.
What did they say?
They put a simple statement in the article.
While we haven’t been able to independently verify whether or not this card actually exists, it makes plenty of sense. Having a cheaper option available in time for the holiday season could be a good earner for Microsoft, making it a pretty good option for gifts and so on.-Windows Central on the rumoured smaller expansion card .
We also have had no comment from Microsoft or Seagate on this card. The only other information is it could launch on the 14th November. That is the day before the upcoming Halo Infinite Series X console and Halo Elite Controller 2 which got revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live when we got the release date for Halo Infinite.
As always we’d love to hear your thoughts. Did you buy the 1TB option and feel 500GB would have been a better size. Please get in touch and let us know as we’d love to hear your views on the matter.
