God of War Ragnarok is only days away from launching. We will soon get to experience the return of Kratos and Atreus on 9th November when they make their PlayStation 5 debut.  The game is also launching on PlayStation 4 at the same time. This brings a close to the latest work by Cory Barlog and his team at Santa Monica Studios.  If you recognize his name he’s the studio’s creative director and worked on the original God of War in 2005. Cory was involved in the sequel two years later and the previous entry on PlayStation 4 in 2018.  In addition, he was also involved in the 2013 Crystal Dynamics reboot of Tomb Raider.

It seems that the upcoming game franchise has given a headache to Cory Barlog and Santa Monica Studios.  It also led to him seeing the benefit of having just an installer on a physical disc.  This is something affecting the recent PlayStation release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.  Here the physical copies only launched with a 70MB file. This forced people to install the full game when the discs had considerably more space.  So, the question is what makes him feel this way?

Why Cory Barlog Is Upset

It seems the reason he’s seeing the disc having an installer only is that one retailer has broken the street date.  With that, it’s led to some people getting a copy of the game and sharing screenshots and spoilers.  Naturally, he’s not very happy and he’s taken to Twitter to explain fans shouldn’t have to avoid spoilers and apologized to them.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen this happen recently.  Asobo and Warner Bros Montreal had similar issues with A Plague Tale: Requiem and Gotham Knights respectively.  However, what do you think of this news? As always, we’d love to hear from you. Hopefully, if you’ve been waiting for this, you’ve avoided spoilers. It’s why personally I’ve avoided them as much as possible on the game. However, if you do have an early copy, don’t spoil it for the rest.
