Multi-award-winning video game composer Chase Bethea is set to take the spotlight at Pixel Con 2025 in Las Vegas on November 8 & 9, 2025. At the show, he will present his talk “Blueprints and Benefits: Crafting Dynamic Music in Colony Sims / Management / Base Building Games,” where he will demonstrate how music adapts to gameplay through his work on the award-winning game Aground Zero.
In addition to the talk, Bethea will perform live, solo selections from the Aground Zero soundtrack synchronized to live gameplay on stage. According to his official announcement, this marks his “first live performance of the award-winning game music soundtrack Aground Zero.”
The event offers a rare opportunity to witness the inner workings of adaptive game music: Bethea will break down how layers, stems, and interactive systems respond to player actions and progressions. His blog note on designing Floor 5 of Aground Zero describes how he structured transitions and loops to maintain immersion.
For attendees of Pixel Con, this session combines education and performance, offering a talk-and-concert format that provides insight into game audio design and delivers a live musical experience. Whether you’re a game developer, a composer, or simply a fan of rich game soundtracks, this is an event not to be missed.
