Capcom has had a busy year. We’ve had Resident Evil 4 and its DLC Separate Ways. If you wish to read more about our thoughts on that release click here. We also saw Exoprimal’s official launch as well as Street Fighter 6. Another title was Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective which was released on the Nintendo Switch. They also have a long-awaited return to a popular series with Dragon’s Dogma 2. However, it seems that’s not quite everything they have planned. This news comes courtesy of Eurogamer who covered a story about some upcoming plans from Capcom.
Now what Eurogamer reported is regarding the recent investors report by Capcom. So why is this big news right now? Well, this report tells us that they have a major title to release. The key point is that it’s also console-bound and set to release in the second half of the 2023 / 2024, financial year. Meaning that this game will launch between now and the end of March 2024.
What Major Title Does Capcom Have On The Way
With a release date within the next five months, the game is likely in well underway. But what game is on the way? That’s the big question. No title has been announced, so we’re just as much in the dark as you are at the time of writing. We do know that Capcom is aiming for this release to sell “45 million units on console.” For context, IGN reported in August that the Resident Evil 2 remake has sold over 12.6 million units since its January 2019 launch. So this mystery game is expected to shift huge numbers. Potential candidates include Monster Hunter or another Resident Evil game. Or could we see something Dino Crisis-related? Nothing has been confirmed yet, but maybe this year’s Game Awards will bring some news.
