LV1 Gaming had the opportunity to go to Summer Game Fest 2026’s Play Days and check out an upcoming survival horror title. The Lost Wild, developed by Great Ape Games and published by Annapurna Interactive, has players engaging in the most dangerous game of hide and seek with dinosaurs. Except when the dinosaurs catch you, you are not simply “it”; you are now their latest snack. You find yourself mysteriously in an abandoned facility, where various types of Earth’s greatest hunters are roaming, and your only goal is to survive. We had the opportunity to watch some early gameplay in a theater setting with top-notch surround sound. Giving an intense and scary glimpse into the upcoming title.

“The Lost Wild is a survival horror experience unlike any other, one that is built around slow burn tension while players are hunted by intelligent dinosaurs. These are not monsters, these are wild animals that think of you as prey… This idea has persisted in various forms and iterations over the years. What started as a shared passion for dinosaurs, curiosity, and a love of games eventually grew into a fully fledged grassroots studio with over 25 talented people behind it. We now find ourselves in the incredibly fortunate position of building our dream dinosaur game, a true love letter to the genre, alongside one of the best publishers in the industry.”

The Lost Wild Key Features

  • Survival Horror with Intelligent Dinosaurs – Evade realistic dinosaur predators that hunt alone or in packs.
  • Explore a Mysterious Island – Search abandoned facilities and dangerous wilderness for resources and clues.
  • Stealth-Focused Gameplay – Use distractions, environmental tools, and hiding spots to survive deadly encounters.
  • Scavenge and Adapt – Collect useful items that expand your options as threats escalate.
  • Uncover the Mystery – Follow Saskia’s journey as she seeks answers about the island and its prehistoric inhabitants.

While sitting in this intimate theater watching live gameplay, The Lost Wild quickly reminded me of Alien Isolation mixed with Jurassic Park. The unsettling thuds from each step of the dinosaur, booming from the subwoofers, created high tension. Dark trails surrounded by tall trees and large bushes kept me in a constant state of fear and worry that a dinosaur was hiding behind a bush. It will be amazing to see how this game will feel when playing with a haptic vest on.

After around 30 minutes of visually stunning yet intense gameplay, we were given a release window for The Lost Wild. You can expect to run and hide from dinosaurs sometime in 2027 on PC via Epic Games Store, Steam, and PlayStation 5.
