Bungie’s newest game, Marathon, officially has a launch date! Monday, January 19, Bungie announced that players will begin their adventure on Tau Ceti IV starting March 5. Marathon is a PVPVE extraction shooter that has players scavenging the desolate colony of Tau Ceti IV. The runners, the bio-cybernetic playable characters, are sent to the planet to scavenge valuable loot, all while surviving hostile security forces and other runners with the same goal in mind: collect valuable items and successfully extract off of the planet.
Now that an official release date has been announced, Bungie opened up pre-orders for the game, and here’s what you can expect from each edition. The Standard Edition gives you access to all gameplay updates, such as maps, runner shells, and events, as the year goes on. Pre-orders of the Standard Edition also include a tactical sidearm, weapon charm, weapon sticker, background, and emblem. If you play Destiny 2, you’ll also receive an exotic ghost, exotic ship, and sparrow. You can pick up the Standard Edition on Steam, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series for $39.99. The Deluxe Edition includes everything from the Standard Edition plus a Premium Rewards Pass Voucher and 200 SILK Rewards Tokens, along with some extra weapon and Runner Shell cosmetics. The Deluxe Edition is available on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series for $59.99. If you’re planning on going all in, you may want to pick up the Collector’s Edition. The Collector’s Edition includes everything in the Standard and Deluxe Editions; however, the Collector’s Edition does not include a physical copy of the game. What it does include is a 1/6th scale Thief Runner Shell statue with LED lights, a collectible WEAVEworm miniature, an iron-on embroidered patch, six postcards, premium packaging with a lenticular poster, a display box with environmental art, and an extra emblem and background if purchased through the Bungie store or PlayStation directly. You can get your hands on the Collector’s Edition for $229.99 with a copy of the game, or $170 without. Destiny 2 rewards were also announced to celebrate the release date of Marathon. All players that play Destiny 2 can earn an exotic weapon ornament for the MIDA Multi-Tool, a legendary shader inspired by Marathon, and an exotic multiplayer emote, but wait, there’s more!
Sony announced a Marathon Limited Edition DualSense Controller and Pulse Elite Wireless Headset. The Limited Edition controller and headset are wrapped in the bold colors and graphics of Marathon to fully immerse players in the action. The controller will sell for $84.99, while the wireless headset will run you $169.99. Both will be available for preorder on January 29 at 10am ET and will launch on March 5 with the release of Marathon.
Bungie also released the English language voice actors, and the lineup is beefy! The cast list is basically a who’s who in video game voice acting, with such notable names as Samantha Béart, Roger Clark, Jennifer English, Dave Fennoy, and a ton of other notable actors. The roles they’ll be playing have not been specified at this time. Marathon will also have fully localized dialogue for all of their supported languages, with those voice casts being announced at a later date.
