We’ve recently told you about Bramble The Mountain King a game by Dimfrost Studios who state the game is going to be“a grim adventure set in a world inspired by dark, Nordic Fables.” We as players will have to “explore the beautiful yet dangerous and twisted land of Bramble in your endeavor to rescue your sister. Traverse a wondrous landscape and survive deadly encounters with Bramble’s many hideous creatures”. We also get told that in the game we will experience an “unsettling journey through stunning environments”.

The Bramble The Mountain King demo for this twisted tale is now on the PlayStation store for PlayStation 5 and I just had to dive in. It’s a fairly short demo but it gives a look at the game world and what we have to face when the full game launches. Though for the demo we get to explore the Nacken’s Pond. The full game isn’t supposed to be a long game as well as the devs said on Twitter it could be finished in a weekend.

I don’t expect to see a full price until closer to the game’s upcoming release. The game if you search the Xbox store shows up as a pre-order but no option is present on the listing. We also see no price point on other listings for PC or PlayStation. If the game is as short as the devs are saying I’m not expecting to be a wallet breaker.

Bramble The Mountain King How The Game Looks

Visually the game is stunning and the environment created in the game is somehow soothing and terrifying in some parts and really takes advantage of the Unreal engine. We have some close-to-photo-realistic environments and impressive lighting. It also feels smooth to play and from the gameplay of the demo is not too taxing or frustrating with its platforming sections. Let’s have a quick look at some of the game screenshots captured on the PlayStation 5 demo.

What does the demo show us and is it enough to convince people to buy the full game? The environmental atmosphere is haunting no matter if it’s a dark environment with only a small light source or outside in nature the game is really well designed. It will keep you on edge but falling in love with your environment all at the same time. How does the game run though? Let’s look at some gameplay.

The demo feels really stable to play as we see from the footage. There are some solid tools to work with and while it may look like a peaceful world at first we soon see a glimpse of how dark things will get. I really enjoyed how the game gave just enough to tease and the demo did not try to show too much or oversell what the product laid out is going to be. Another part of the game that really impressed me was the music and audio effects. The musical score was really relaxing at moments when the game was tranquil. Furthermore if the game appeals it will be launching on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 alongside PC. For those interested in PC it will be available on Steam and Epic.
