Are you a fan of Elden Ring? If so I assume you’ve heard the announcement of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion however this is not much information about when it’s coming out. So if you’re looking for something new to play that’s Souls-esque in the meantime what is there for you? We have one suggestion of a game that’s just launched on PC and is coming soon to console that being Bleak Faith: Forsaken.
You may remember us telling you about Bleak Faith: Forsaken last month. The game is in the mold of Dark Souls by developer Archangel. Though some are claiming it is taking more than inspiration from Elden Ring. It seems some are claiming they have stolen assets from the popular FromSoftware title itself.
Bleak Faith: Forsaken And Supposed Stolen Animations
PC Gamer has posted an article showing where Archangel’s new title has indeed used animations from FromSoftware games. The similarities are striking so what did the developer say about this? After all, we see something similar to both Elden Ring and Dark Souls 3. Archangel state they are assets purchased from the Epic Marketplace.
FromSoftware is said not to use Unreal Engine. A post on Souls Modding states that “Dantelion is an entirely proprietary engine developed by and for FromSoftware; although it typically makes use of common middleware such as Havok, Fmod, or Bink, the vast majority of its systems and formats are custom-made, undocumented, and unsupported in any existing software”. The PC Gamer article refers to the person where Archangel purchased the assets from and found something interesting. They state that “one of the assets sold there, labeled PN Axe Animations, closely resembles the move set of Bloodborne’s Hunter Axe”. They have raised this Epic so it seems this may not be over. This seems to be a topical conversation on Twitter as well.
