We brought you news of games that shut down completely in 2022. Sadly this will happen as titles get older or licenses expire and aren’t renewed. Nintendo is shutting down its storefront for the Wii U and 3DS. For some titles it’s not a problem, they are available physically. However, for close to a thousand titles this can mean the end. So being nearly a quarter of the way through 2023 we can some games that digitally will cease to exist. Though this isn’t for a small IP either, the series in question is the well-known Battlefield.
We have news from this week from EA themselves over what they call Battlefield Legacy – Sunsetting Announcement. According to the company. Battlefield 1943 and Bad Company 1 & 2 were released fifteen years ago and they are bringing the game’s journey to an end. The announcement says that “starting April 28, 2023, Battlefield 1943, Battlefield: Bad Company 1 & 2 will be removed from digital storefronts and you will no longer be able to purchase them. This is in preparation for the retirement of the online services for these titles which will happen on December 8, 2023. For Bad Company 1 & 2, you can continue playing them and use their respective offline features, such as the single-player campaign”.
Why EA Is Shutting These Battlefield Games Down
It seems that EA is “now looking forward to creating new memories” with us. They now plan to focus on new and existing games in the series. However, they do seem to have fond memories of these games. They close stating.
