Last year we had the announcement from Ubisoft about the next project from Massive Entertainment. They are the studio responsible for The Division franchise. That game is the upcoming Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. This is being developed in an updated version of the Snowdrop Engine.
This isn’t the only title coming for the franchise as another title is in the pipeline. MMORPG Avatar: Reckoning. was announced via a collaboration with Tencent and Disney.
What we know about the game
The upcoming game is set to launch later this year. However, it’s not a console release as it’s scheduled to launch on iOS and Android. Level Infinite is publishing the release. We know of three modes which are a single-player mode, PVP, or co-op. And like the Ubisoft release, we will see new parts of Pandora. A press release can be read here.
Avatar: Reckoning will transport players to never-before-seen parts of Pandora. Where they will meet new Na’vi clans fighting to defend their home. battle powerful RDA troops seeking to exploit the resources of the moon. and encounter spectacular alien creatures. All playable solo or in dynamic multiplayer matches. Players will level up their Avatar character. equip powerful weapons. and battle through single player story missions, co-op and player-vs-player (PvP) game modes with innovative combat tailored for touchscreens.
Where next for the franchise.
Scheduled to arrive this December is the next film in the series. The third film is also close to a release. We have the upcoming game from Ubisoft. This is expected to hit later this year or early next year.
