We made our way to Summer Game Fest and got to take part in the interactive 3-day Play Days event. While there we took a tour of the area that PM Studios took over and played the upcoming Avatar game. Developed by Gameplay Group and published by PM Studios, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is a 1v1 hand-drawn fighter. You will have the opportunity to take control of some of your favorite characters from the Avatar TV series. Earth bend with Toph, Fire bend with Azula, and it was recently announced you will even be able to utilize the might of Avatar Kyoshi. Non-benders such as Sokka will be available as well.

After initially watching the gameplay trailer for this game, it looked like a slower-paced fighting game like Samurai Showdown. But as soon as we got hands-on with the game, it felt closer to Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Super jumps, dodges, and the speed of the game are wild. Even though I only won 2 matches out of 6 (feel free to judge me for my shame; I have forgotten my father’s face).
All jokes aside, as someone who is not excellent at fighting games, it was an unexpected amount of fun playing Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game. The beauty of it is that you won’t have to wait long or spend much on this game. Releasing July 23, 2026, for $29.99
