If you told me that Atlus would finally be showing their long-hidden project Re Fantasy I’d have called you a liar. If you told me that it would also first be debuting at an Xbox event I’d have laughed. Because even in my wildest dreams I’d have never thought that. Well, now my wildest dreams came true as the long secretive project Re Fantasy got its reveal. As Atlus’s newest IP Metaphor ReFantazio debuts at Xbox’s showcase.
That’s right the fans of the JRPG genre on the green machine are getting not one but two Atlus announcements. The first was the announcement of new persona games, and the second was the grand reveal of their new IP Metaphor ReFantazio. This game has been a very big secret for the team behind the acclaimed Persona franchise. It’s been six years since the original tease of Project Re Fantasy.
So the surprise announcement and trailer was an absolute blast to watch. A unique take on fantasy, and still captures that distinct atlus and persona flair. Metaphor is looking to be another success alongside their Shin Megami Tensei series. You can watch the announcement trailer below:
As you can see the game has that Atlus style to it yet a very unique fantasy visual. While there are some aspects of the modern era we know, it is completely flipped early on. This pushes Metaphor to look absolutely stunning. As well as some of the early mechanics and menus, we see are very reminiscent of Persona 5’s menu and that of the new Persona 3 Reload menu.
Either way, the game looks amazing and it will be nice to see what new things are cooking at Atlus. The Game will be launching Next year on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows, and on Xbox Gamepass day and date. Metaphor has since been confirmed to also be coming to PS5, PS4, and Steam.
Tell us are you excited about the newest IP from Atlus with Metaphor ReFantazio? Will you be purchasing the game or playing in Gamepass, let us know down below.
