Is Halo Switching Engines? The Spawnies 2023, One For The Ages Horizon Forbidden West Multi-Player On The Way? Quantum Break Worth Playing Nearly A Decade Later? SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake Review

2023 is almost upon us, and you undoubtedly have your own list of favorite games from this year and games to look forward to in the coming year. Where do you start planning which games are high on your list to buy and which get relegated to waiting for sales? I decided to compile a list of some of my anticipated 2023 games.

Looking at this, there are so many titles excluded from the list that are big names.  So as these games come closer to launch, this list can change. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if my personal 2023 anticipated titles change as more details and gameplay emerge.  Consequently not included are upgrades to games like Fallout 4 as that game is already available to play now.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

This was recently confirmed for the fall 2023 release by developer Insomniac. I’m a huge fan of anything Marvel, and the original 2018 release put this high on my wish list. At the time of writing, we only have the original announcement trailer, which can be seen below.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League

As well as Marvel, I also love DC and have been a huge fan of the Batman Arkham series. This Rocksteady game follows in the footsteps of the previous ones. The most recent trailer was emotional because it said goodbye to many people’s favorite Batman, Kevin Conroy’s voice, who died in November. This hits PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on May 26, 2023.

Resident Evil 4 Remake

One of the most beloved games in a historic franchise is getting a remake. It was heavily rumored and finally confirmed this year. Many people are hoping that this is a huge success so that a Code Veronica remake can be greenlit. This comes to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on 24th March 2023

Delayed from its November release, it’s scheduled for some point next year. We have seen an in-depth gameplay reveal as well. It will be available on Day 1 in Game Pass for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Hopefully, in the early part of next year, we can get an update on Bethesda’s new IP.

The Day Before

This is one I’d been watching for some time, and it was suddenly delayed after getting a release date. This was due to the development switching to Unreal Engine 5. Since then, we’ve not had much to go on, but the Steam listing gives a March 1, 2023 release date. The game is also set to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S and is one of the most popular wish-listed titles on Steam

Dead Space

Having recently gone gold, EA Motive has recreated the work of the popular horror author Glen Schofield. This will be launching on January 27th, only a few weeks away, and it will bring the return of Isaac Clarke. The remake will hit PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S and bypass last-generation consoles.

Black Myth Wukong

This was said to launch next year, according to an interview with IGN.  It looks from the gameplay footage absolutely fantastic but we’ve no details in regards to a release.  It’s an action RPG by Chinese developer Game Science and developed in Unreal Engine 5.  This is why it’s expected only on the new console generation and PC.  It’s also the title I would expect one of the titles most likely to miss in 2023. It’s a title we’ve looked at in the past as well

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Following the events of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, the second part is highly anticipated.  The remake will be a trilogy and this is coming to PlayStation 5 winter of 2023.  So far no PC release has been mentioned, however, the previous game in the remake trilogy launched on PC and it would make sense this followed suit.

Lies Of P

Think of a Bloodborne-esque world and combine that with the story of Pinocchio. Then say hello to the Dark Souls-esque action RPG of Lies of P.  We see that humanity has vanished and the beautiful city of Krat is now a dark foreboding world full of horror.  It will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.  It is also confirmed to be launching on day 1 on Xbox Game Pass

Final Fantasy 16

The next installment of this much-loved franchise is a PlayStation launch exclusive.  At the recent Game Awards, we got the latest trailer and the release information.  One of next year’s most anticipated titles launches on 22nd June.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

When Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was released we were given a fantastic single-player Star Wars adventure.  It was only a matter of time before we got a sequel.  At the Game Awards, one of the 2023 anticipated games got a release date and a look at gameplay.  Cal Kestis returns on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on 17th March 2023.

Alan Wake 2

Yes, Alan Wake returns in 2023 and he’s coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S and had to make my 2023 Anticipated Games list.  Fans had asked for 11 years and in December 2021 at The Game Awards, Remedy confirmed his return.  It also takes a change in approach as it becomes a survival horror.  We were also promised more news earlier this year with a Summer update. That never happened so a 2023 release could be pushed into 2024. However, as it stands it’s still on the official website as 2023.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Breath of the Wild was one of the most successful titles in recent times. Therefore it was pretty much a given that Link would be back. In September this year, we saw his return confirmed and it’s coming on May 12th, 2023.  At present, the most recent Nintendo console generation is the Nintendo Switch and no new console has even been announced so it looks like it will be available exclusively to the Switch next year.

Silent Hill 2

Konami gave the world a fresh look at one of the most loved horror games way back in 2021.  Now we have the news it’s being remade from the ground up and reportedly nearly complete after being in development for some time.  At the time of writing, nothing has been said to confirm or deny this from Bloober Team or Konami. The only news coming from Bloober Team is the new horror IP with Private Division which recently was confirmed by the Polish studio.  So this remake isn’t confirmed for any release date but it seems 2023 is possible if the rumor is to be considered accurate.

That’s Not A Definitive 2023 Anticipated Titles List

There are so many other games coming we could look at, meaning it certainly could go on for longer.  We have games like Hogwarts Legacy, Armored Core 6, Dead Island 2, and Forspoken.  We have the Horizon Forbidden West expansion due as well. I could list a few simulation games from my Steam wish list or some smaller indies that caught my eye. So what games are you looking forward to? As always we’d love to hear from you. So why not get in touch and share your 2023 Anticipated Games with us as we’d love to hear from you.
