10 New Details About Grand Theft Auto VI You Didn’t Know

GTA VI

Rockstar Games both disappointed and excited us this week, delaying Grand Theft Auto VI to May 26, 2026, but then stealthily releasing a new trailer, dozens of screenshots, and new information about the most anticipated game of this generation. We searched high and low to bring you 10 of the best new details you may not know about Rockstar Games revealed to us this week.

  1. New Side Activities – Fishing, Basketball, Scuba Diving, and More!

Many new side activities were revealed in the newest trailer. We aren’t sure if you can engage in every single one as either Jason or Lucia, but some of them must be. This list includes returning and new activities from the series, making it even more plausible that we will be able to engage in some of these. Here is the list of activities we spotted in the newest trailer, and we are sure there are even MORE coming:

-Watching TV

-Clubbing/Dance Mini-Game

-Mini Golf

-MMA Fighting

-Fishing

-Pool (Billiards)

-Hunting

-Dirt Bike Racing

-Kayaking

-Playing Videogames

2. Heist Missions Return

We will be robbing banks, stores and everything in between as both Jason and Lucia will work with other characters to pull off massive heists that are multi-layered and will bring you through multiple set-pieces and scenarios as you bounce between Jason and Lucia like with GTA V’s character switching but with a much better focus on just two characters.

3. Rockstar Re-Confirms Its All In-Game Gameplay and Cutscenes

While the newest trailer noted clearly at the end that everything was captured on a PlayStation 5, gamers were so blown away by the visuals that many believed some of it was fake or all of it was from cutscenes. Rockstar doubled down the day after and said, “Trailer 2 was captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5, comprised of equal parts gameplay and cutscenes. This is how good it will look, Rockstar has always ensured they use in-game footage for all their reveals for a long time now, it’s good to see nothing has changed.

4. Unparalleled NPC and City Behaviours

The GTA games have always been at the top tier of simulating a living, breathing city; no other series has come close, and it feels like no one else is even trying to catch up anymore compared to the numerous GTA clones in the PS2/Xbox and PS3/360 eras. The newest trailer showed off so many random details like this, which will make Vice City and the entire state of Leonida. This includes homeless people begging for change, entire police raids on neighbourhoods, criminals cleaning up garbage along the roads, and taking it to the next level, like entire yacht parties on the water, and much more.

5. The Game is Finally on Storefronts to Wishlist

We have known about the game and had a trailer for so long, but it wasn’t until Trailer 2 was released that the game popped up on the PlayStation 5 storefront to wishlist for example. It’s weird finally seeing it on the store when using a console now, finally!!!

6. Lucia’s Actor may have been in GTA Before…

Lucia Caminos, one of the main characters you will play as in GTA VI, has been rumored to be played by Manni L. Perez. While many have discovered who the actor might be, not as many know that she appeared to feature in the GTA Online update “Diamond Casino & Resort” as a dealer, no one thinks this is Lucia, but many think this is where Rockstar Games met her and felt she would be a perfect fit for Lucia and signed her onto that role shortly after.

7. The Wildlife System Returns!

The wildlife system was first introduced in GTA V in a rudimentary way, it wasn’t until Red Dead Redemption 2 that we saw that system become even more developed and fully featured with large animal herds and flocks of birds, better predator/prey relationships and much more. Rockstar confirms with GTA VI that this system returns and will once again be even more advanced than ever before. This leaves a lot of potential for the potential hunting and fishing mini-games, with rumours heavily implying that hunting for sharks and other larger aquatic life will also be part of it.

8. Ray Tracing is being used and looks amazing

All the global lighting and reflections you see in Trailer 2 seem to be driven by an advanced ray tracing solution that looks absolutely amazing, with the global illumination not having the weird fizzling artifacts that comes with the ray-traced Lumen lighting we see in Unreal Engine 5 as a comparison. Rockstar has worked hard to create an amazing ray tracing setup that they experimented with first on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, with the PC enhanced edition that released just a few months ago adding ray-traced global illumination only to this PC edition. It was a nice sneak peek at the technology they were brewing, but its use in GTA VI might be the best yet seen in the industry.

9. Hair, Beards, Fashion, and Working Out

It’s very clear from the newest trailer that you will be able to extensively alter your character’s hairstyle, clothes, workout to change your physical appearance, jewellery, accessories, cars, and all the lavish things to indulge in as you make more money during your aspiring crime career. It seems we will get a level of customization that we haven’t seen since the San Andreas days, but with incredible modern visuals and options.

10. The People and Places of the State of Leonida

Rockstar Games blew the lid off the world of Grand Theft Auto VI, making it clear that Vice City is just one small part of this state-wide adventure. The multitude of biomes, cities, and locations were revealed that showed a variety of people and places you will come to get to know in Leonida. This includes all the major regions:

Vice City – the city we all remember and love

Leonida Keys – the great open water like the Florida Keys

Grassrivers – your swampy areas

Port Gellhorn – shipping city of the state

Ambrosia – industrial centre of the state

Mount Kalaga – mountain and forested area

We also got to meet a bunch of people including:

Cal Hampton – good friend of Jason

Boobie Ike – Vice City empire mogul of clubs, music and more

Dre’Quan Priest – hustler, gangster, musician

Real Dimez – social media diva duo

Raul Bautista – seasoned bank robber

Brian Heder – drug runner and who Jason begins working for

There is so much more to learn about this monumental and gargantuan game, Rockstar is also definitely ready to reveal more to us on a regular basis. With the final release date set for May 26, 2026, just over a year away, I expect Rockstar to blow us away every month with something new and exciting.
